You’re invited to a Salem Capitol forum discussion and tour hosted by AAJA Portland. The Feb. 28 event is a great way to learn about Asian American Pacific Islander issues in state government and network with Oregon journalists. We hope to see you there!
What: Capitol discussion and tour.
Who: AAJA members, journalists and Asian American Pacific Islander community members and three invited panelists:
Liani Reeves, attorney at state Department of Justice and on the Oregon Commission on Asian Affairs; Patrick Sieng, legislative assistant to state Rep. Jean Cowan, D-Newport, and candidate for Salem-Keizer School Board; Carol Suzuki, operations director for Senate Majority Office, who also has
been on the commission.
Panel topics: Asian American Pacific Islander participation in Oregon government and politics, also discussion of Capitol reporting with Peter Wong, Statesman Journal reporter.
When: 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Program is expected to last until 11:15 a.m., and then include a tour of the Capitol. Lunch is on your own.
Where: Room 43 (press conference room), Capitol. Please use the east entrance, as the Capitol itself will be closed. (Entry will be by key card and coordinated by event organizers.)
